REVIEW
Highlights of this particular set include Slide Hampton's wonderful arrangement
of "Oleo," two nice Benny Golson charts, and Willie Maiden's
"Back In The Satellite Again." Don doesn't solo on the vinyl
release of this album, though a unissued version of Maiden's "Three
More Foxes" was also recorded at this concert and can be found on
Mosaic's Maynard box set.
A note for Maynard fans: this album contains the original version of
MF's "Stella By Starlight" (the same arrangement, and arguably
a better performance, later appeared on his Carnival
album from 1978).
