REVIEW
Here is trio date that didn't see the light of day until this CD was issued in
1988. Very introspective stuff...I wouldn't recommend it to die-hard fans of his
orchestra. The standard program is given new life by Don and his two modern-thinking
sidemen. "Just One Of Those Things" is an unaccompanied trumpet solo,
while "My Funny Valentine" is a beautiful duet between Don and the underrated
pianist Paul Bley. Good music that may be hard to find (but probably easier to
locate than Don's best stuff with his orchestra).
